🪄 Reading Challenge: Our Hogwarts Houses Take Off!
This year, reading in English has turned into a magical adventure at Escuela IDEO. During our school overnight stay (pernocta), we sorted all the 5th graders into the four Hogwarts Houses — Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin — and since then, the reading challenge has officially begun! 📚✨
Every time students finish reading a book, they complete a Book Report to show their understanding and reflections. For every two Book Reports, they earn:
🪶 a stamp in their Reading Booklet
🍫 a Chocolate Frog Card
🏆 and one point for their House!
The goal? To fill the year with stories, imagination, and teamwork — because the House with the most points at the end of the year will receive a special reward. 🎁
This gamified reading journey not only encourages students to read more in English, but also helps them enjoy the process, share book recommendations with classmates, and feel part of a community of readers. As we like to say in class:
“Reading is magic — and every book is a new spell to learn!” 💫

The Christmas holidays are a great time to rest, enjoy and spend time doing things you love. They are also a perfect opportunity to keep in touch with English in a relaxed and fun way.
On this page, you will find some recommendations of songs, films, TV shows and books in English. These activities are not homework — they are just ideas to help you listen, read and enjoy English naturally during the holidays.
You can:
Listen to songs and sing along.
Watch films or shows in English (with subtitles if you need them).
Read short stories or books at your own pace.
Choose what you like most, take your time, and remember: learning English can be fun!
